Who are FoodCycle?

FoodCycle's vision is a society in which nobody is left hungry or lonely. It is a national charity that sets out to build communities and tackle food poverty by cooking communal meals using surplus ingredients from supermarkets and local retailers. Their volunteers do great work and we love how FoodCycle works to bring people together in their local communities by making and sharing good food.

They feed some of the most vulnerable people in our communities who need our support now, more than ever.

How do they work?

FoodCycle partners with big supermarkets and small local retailers to collect surplus food. Pre-Covid19 their army of more than 1,200 volunteers cooked this food each week in local ‘hubs’ around the country. Cooking in ‘ready-steady-cook’ style they creatively transform their fresh ingredients into three-course dining experiences for people who really benefit.

Throughout the Coronavirus crisis, FoodCycle provided food parcels for vulnerable people They also launched Check-in and chat, where volunteers call guests for a little natter which has been a much needed service in 2020!

They are now getting back to cooking again, providing free takeaway meals, packed with nutrients.

FoodCycle currently runs projects in over 41 locations across the UK. We hope our support will enable them to open more projects.
